It’s important that you provide reliable and affordable heating and cooling for your San Joaquin Valley home, no matter the season. For you and other homeowners looking for savings, an effective way to accomplish this is to install ductless mini splits. These systems, often used for add-ons and extra rooms, don’t use ductwork to circulate conditioned air in your home, which means you won’t lose the significant amounts of air (and energy) that ducts typically lose through leaks and conduction.
Ductless mini splits are easy to install. Each system consists of two main components: the exterior compressor/condenser and the interior air handler/evaporator, with a conduit – containing the refrigerant tubing, power line, suction tubing and condensate drain – connecting the two. The difference between a mini split system and a regular air-source heat pump set-up is that the air handlers used with ductless mini splits are small and easy to install, with up to four indoor units connectable to the same outside unit.
Ductless mini splits are not very big, which means you can install the inside air handlers in a number of places within your home. You can easily place them on the wall or ceiling, or stand them on the floor. They won’t look out of place or unsightly. In fact, they’re designed to add a bit of positive aesthetics wherever you choose to install them.
A big advantage of ductless mini splits is the fact that they will allow you to create a kind of makeshift zoning system, but without a huge cost. Zoning simply means that sections or rooms in your house are designated as “zones,” areas where a certain temperature can be maintained with the zone’s own thermostat. This allows you to have more control over the exact temperature of each area in your home.
This will help you save money on your heating and cooling bills. With zoned climate control, you won’t need to heat or cool unoccupied rooms, plus family members can set the temperature to their own preference in the location where they are. By closing off unused rooms, much less energy will be necessary to heat and cool your home.
